Haiz, im sooo bored in here..early in d morning wld b browsing d online news and coming hm wld b reading d straits times.. n guess wat i found? There's tis article wich realli3 cauught my attention!! It start to make me think and think and think till nw.. So i wanna share wif u gals..
The heading sounds like tis: "Friendship can be in a form of 'useful' love ".
Aristotle begins by considering the question: How many kinds of friendship r there?
As always, he proceed in a very logical manner. Friendship is a form of love, he reasons. But not everything can b an object of love. We love only things dat r useful, pleasant or good.
So there r 3 corresponding kinds of frenship:
1) Frenship based on UTILITY (where we love ppl coz they r useful)
2) Frenship based on PLEASURE (where we love those whose company is pleasant)
3) PERFECT FRENSHIP coz we perceive them 2 b good.
Tis wk , I'll xplain on utility-based frenship. As for utility-based frenship, they donot love each other for themselves but in virtue of some good wich they will gt fm each other. This is d least perfect form of frenship coz its ultimately self-directed. This type r quickly dissolved. Once they outlived their usefulness, the frenship ends. Because "they were lovers not for each other but of profit".
So...wich frenship r we looking for???
Quotes of d dae: "w/o frends, no one wld choose to live, though he had all other goods."
psss: I'll put an update on the coming 2 explaination of d frenship.
